CREMIE Project
Adaptation of an innovative and powerful tool for calculating and representing magnetic fields in electrical installations for engineering companiesWelcome to the CREMIE Project
Professors Carlos Roldán Blay and Carlos Roldán Porta, from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, are the authors of the software “CRMag - Program for the calculation and representation of magnetic fields in electrical installations,” registered in CARTA with registration number R-19161-2017 and updated to a commercial version in February 2018.
Thanks to the Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI), the professors have received a grant in the action line L1. Valorization, transfer, and exploitation by companies of R&D results from the program for Valorization and transfer of research results to companies for the "Adaptation of an innovative and powerful tool for calculating and representing magnetic fields in electrical installations for engineering companies," which constitutes the CREMIE Project.
Project Objectives
The fundamental objective of the project is to adapt and bring the CRMag® software closer to the engineering companies for which it is intended. To do this, the work team and various collaborators have been dedicating great effort throughout 2020 and 2021 to adapt the software to the needs that dozens of engineering companies have communicated to the authors to facilitate its use. In this sense, two lines of action have been proposed, which are being carried out sequentially.:
- Adaptation of the interface to the business and engineering environment
- Improvements in data entry
- Improvements in report generation
- Expansion of functionalities to adapt the software to the demand of its target users
- New calculation module dedicated to the study of transformers
- Expansion of the module dedicated to overhead transmission and distribution lines
- New tools for calculating parameters of interest, such as shielding coefficients or levels of exposure to magnetic fields
The main advantage of this software is that it is developed by engineers for engineers. Therefore, it is a tool completely oriented to the needs created by regulations in the field of high voltage electrical installation projects, whether they are transformer stations, substations, or power lines.
CRMag® emerged as a result of a need to solve a real project and has greatly improved since its inception, but the CREMIE Project is the push that was needed to fully introduce it into the field of engineering, and this has been possible thanks to the Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI). As a result of this project, the program will not only be adapted and improved, but it will also reach companies through various dissemination actions in forums focused on the business sector, such as technical journals and professional associations.
